Compatibility

  • Midmark 8019 Series Multiparameter Monitors (8" and 12")
  • Philips Respironics LoFlo Sidestream CO2 Sensor
  • Respironics CAPNOSTAT 5 Mainstream CO2 Sensor
  • Most sidestream CO2 modules with standard LoFlo-compatible form factor

The Problem

Capnography, the continuous monitoring of end-tidal CO2 during anesthesia, is one of the most critical safety monitors in veterinary surgery. ETCO2 provides the earliest warning of hypoventilation, airway disconnection, esophageal intubation, and cardiac arrest, typically minutes before pulse oximetry detects a problem. Studies have shown that the combined use of capnography and pulse oximetry could prevent up to 93% of avoidable anesthetic mishaps.

The Philips Respironics LoFlo sidestream CO2 sensor is the standard capnography module used with Midmark multiparameter monitors. But the LoFlo was designed as a generic OEM component. It ships with no monitor-specific mounting hardware. The module simply hangs from its cable, sits loose on a shelf, or gets taped to the monitor housing.

This creates real problems. Philips and Health Canada issued a safety alert documenting that LoFlo sensor cables subjected to repeated twisting, coiling, or bending can lose functionality. An unsecured module swinging from its cable strains the 8-pin Lemo connector, risks vacuum leaks in the sampling line that produce false CO2 readings, and is vulnerable to drops that damage the internal infrared optics.

Your anesthesia team shouldn’t be improvising with tape and zip ties to secure a monitor that’s watching your patient breathe.

The Solution

The CO2 Sensor Mount bolts directly to four existing screw points on the rear panel of your Midmark multiparameter monitor, the same mounting points designed to bear the load of Midmark’s own mounting accessories. No drilling, no adhesive, no modifications.

The mount provides a secure cradle that holds your LoFlo sidestream sensor in place with clean cable routing to prevent connector strain. The sensor stays accessible for sampling line changes but protected from the bumps, swings, and drops that cause damage and false readings.

Designed for the Philips Respironics LoFlo sidestream CO2 sensor, the standard capnography module used across Midmark, Bionet, Edan, Infinium, and other veterinary monitoring platforms. The LoFlo and CAPNOSTAT share the same 8-pin connector and are interchangeable on the same host monitor.

What’s in the Box

  • 1× CO2 Sensor Mount (PETG)
  • 4× mounting screws (matched to Midmark rear panel screw points)

Installation

  1. Locate the four screw points on the rear panel of your Midmark monitor
  2. Align mount and secure with included screws
  3. Seat CO2 sensor module into cradle
  4. Route sampling line and cable through integrated channel

Care & Cleaning

Wipe with isopropyl alcohol. Not autoclave-safe. PETG is resistant to most clinical cleaning solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which monitors does the CO2 sensor mount fit?

It bolts to four existing screw points on the rear panel of Midmark 8019 series multiparameter monitors, in both the 8-inch and 12-inch versions. No drilling, adhesive, or modifications are needed.

Which CO2 sensors does it hold?

It is built for the Philips Respironics LoFlo sidestream CO2 sensor, the standard capnography module on these monitors. It also cradles the Respironics CAPNOSTAT 5 mainstream sensor and most sidestream modules with the standard LoFlo-compatible form factor, since the LoFlo and CAPNOSTAT share the same 8-pin connector.

Does mounting the sensor help prevent false ETCO2 readings?

An unsecured module hanging from its cable strains the connector and can introduce vacuum leaks in the sampling line. The mount holds the sensor in a fixed cradle with clean cable routing, which keeps the connector and sampling line stable during anesthesia.

What is included, and how do I clean it?

Each mount ships with four screws matched to the Midmark rear panel screw points. Wipe it with isopropyl alcohol. The PETG resists most clinical cleaning solutions, but it is not autoclave safe.
